Victoriano de la Cruz (Nahua) narrates the celebration of Xantolo and funeral rites in his community, Tepoxteco (Chicontepec, Veracruz, Mexico). Ildefonso Maya (see below) wrote a play entitled "Ixtlamatinij / The Learned Ones" that treats, among other topics, the celebration of Xantolo in the Huasteca Region of Mexico. The play can be found in the anthology Words of the True Peoples / Palabras de los seres verdaderos: Anthology of Contemporary Mexican-Indigenous-Language Writers, volume 3 (2007) edited by Carlos Montemayor and Donald Frischmann.
